Software from enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provider SAP can help a company improve its overall decision-making processes, it has been suggested.

Cobb EMC, one of the largest electric cooperatives in the US, has been utilising technology from the Germany-based outfit to bolster its operations in a number of ways.

The solutions have helped the firm better deliver reliable energy and gas to its 435,000 residential and commercial customers at the lowest possible cost.

Its IT department previously supported more than 6,000 individual business reports but the applications from SAP have served to reduce this amount by 95 per cent.

Employees at Cobb EMC now have access to real-time data and can carry out detailed reporting to help push measurable benefits throughout the organisation, including areas such as human resources and accounting.

Technology from the software provider has also been selected by aerospace company Proton-Perm Motors, which sought to better regulate its business processes and IT applications.
