Software from enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provider SAP can help a company speed up its IT processes, it has been suggested.

Writing for Computing.co.uk, Dawinderpal Sahota noted Unicorn Products, a sports manufacturer and distributor, has upgraded its SAP technology.

The journalist explained the decision has been made in an effort to quicken operations and improve its use of material requirement planning and electronic data interchange (EDI).

Edward Lowy, managing director at the firm - which is the home of brands such as Gunn and Moore cricket products - observed it was time for an upgrade as the demands of the business had altered.

"We needed to have quicker information and be able to communicate via EDI with more people," he remarked.

Bill McDermott, co-chief executive officer at SAP, recently told CNBC the Germany-based software provider is currently focusing on its core business areas and has no plans for any hardware company acquisitions at present.
