Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provider SAP is still looking to grow and expand its global reach, it has emerged.

The Germany-based company has announced it is still on the lookout for large acquisitions following its $5.8 billion (£4 billion) deal with database specialist Sybase last month, Reuters reports.

Jim Hagemann Snabe, co-chief executive officer of the firm, which produces ERP systems including SAP Business One, was speaking to shareholders at the firm’s annual meeting.

He said that in order to further enhance SAP’s market position, it will "continue to search for acquisitions to provide us with innovative functionality and software to complement, enhance and round out our industry, product and technology offerings".

Mr Hagemann Snabe added these mergers could be on a large scale if they meant better value for customers and shareholders.

IT Web recently heralded SAP’s deal with Sybase, stating the move would allow the former to achieve its long-term goals at a quicker pace.
