A top fashion retailer has revealed that SAP systems have contributed to the company making £50 million worth of savings last year.
Burberry implemented the Germany-based software provider's technology in an effort to streamline stock room functions, ComputerWeekly reports.
According to the news provider, Burberry representatives told delegates at an analysts conference that SAP IT platforms enabled it to maximise cost-efficiency by reducing inventory levels by £100 million over a 12-month period.
The company also revealed that this IT investment, in conjunction with the closing of a number of unprofitable stores, led to £22 million worth of savings in its first six months.
SAP has enabled the firm to simplify a range of planning and replenishment procedures, Burberry added.
Jason Ankers, SAP Business One sales manager at SAP Gold partner Codestone commented: "The Burberry story is also playing out in the SME space. We (Codestone) are seeing customers who use SAP Business One, (the integrated business management software solutions for SMEs) realising real cost savings due to the streamlining of business processes and having complete visibility across the business allowing for more timely and informed business decisions."
