The success of Germany-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provider SAP is a symbol of economic recovery, it has been suggested.
Writing for the Financial Times, Daniel Schafer cited the example of the company - which provides ERP systems such as SAP Business One - as a sign the German economy is experiencing growth.
The journalist noted the firm is the largest business software manufacturer in the world and saw its sales rocket at a double-digit rate in the first half of 2010.
Bill McDermott, co-chief executive officer at SAP, commented: "If you think about a company like SAP with such a mature brand and a well-founded marketplace growing at that rate, it speaks to the depth of the turnaround."
Trefis recently reported the technology provider has seen its profit margins widen in the last few months and stated increased spending on IT in an improving economy has played a significant role in such success.
