Security ‘to be the key to cloud computing in the future’

Businesses that adopt cloud computing over the coming years will be forced to increasingly consider the level of security it provides and what they are responsible for.

Seth Robinson, one of the authors of the CompTIA second annual Trends in Cloud Computing report, explained that recent security breaches around the world have made firms more wary of what they can do to protect themselves.

One solution is to move to the cloud, which the expert suggested some will look at in an intelligent manner.

Judging how much security a user should be responsible for compared to the manufacturer's duties will significantly affect the set-up of a company's systems.

"It's going to be more circumstantial and more situation-based moving forward as companies determine how much risk they're willing to take on," Mr Robinson concluded.

A report by accounting firm KPMG International, reported by the Wall Street Journal, this week suggested that cloud computing is changing the way businesses work.
