Server virtualisation in 2012 ‘will rely on multiple platforms’

Category: Virtualisation

Companies in the UK have been advised that there will be changes to the way server virtualisation works within their operations in 2012.

Kenneth van Surksum, chief editor of news site Virtualization.info, explained the current reliance on single platforms will decrease as management products come to support multiple virtualisation bases.

He went on to note that virtualisation solutions will be in a position to take various virtual machines and convert them between different platforms.

"Of course, virtualisation platforms, in combination with functionality provided by hardware vendors will further evolve - providing more functionality, better performance and so on," Mr Van Surksum stated.

He added that server virtualisation tools in 2012 will be capable of managing both on-site solutions and others via the cloud.

Jeff Wilson, principal analyst for security at Infonetics Research, explained recently that virtualisation products have been secured and deployed by companies of all sizes in recent times.
