Small business space ‘important for ERP system growth’

1st March

Category: ERP systems

Small businesses are becoming the main focus of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems providers, one expert has argued.

Bud Mathaisel, former chief information officer at Disney and Ford, told Infoworld that that many larger organisations have already purchased ERP platforms because they are such mission-critical software.

According to Mr Mathaisel, the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) space is where much of the interest for technology of this kind - such as SAP Business One - will now be seen.

He added that another area in which ERP is to experience growth is in modularisation, with firms looking to modify their current systems.

"Very often, organisations want to update a piece of their ERP without redoing the whole thing," he explained.

Erppandit.com recently claimed that SMEs will need to invest in these types of software to remain competitive.

Failing to do so will hinder their ability to maintain a strong market presence in the long term, the website commented.
