Small businesses and public sector ‘driving cloud computing growth’

16th November

Category: Virtualisation

The adoption of cloud computing solutions is being undertaken at the fastest rate by small businesses and public sector bodies.

That is the conclusion of the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF), which has found the technology is increasingly popular across a variety of sectors, reported Cloud Pro.

Its figures suggest more than half of all companies now use cloud computing, while take-up of the equipment in the public sector has jumped by 11 per cent since the last study nine months ago.

Overall, the growth rate for the technology stands at five per cent, which was described as healthy by chairman of the CIF Andy Burton.

He noted that the public sector turning to cloud computing is not a surprise, as many authorities are faced with making cuts to their budgets.

Alastair McAulay, IT expert at PA Consulting Group, recently said cloud computing has the potential to deliver a large number of benefits to businesses.
