SMEs ‘looking for sector-specific ERP systems’

29th March

Category: ERP systems

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are looking for enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP Business One, that can be configured to become sector specific, a poll has suggested.

Dale Vile of Freeform Dynamics, writing for the Register, found that smaller companies believe alignment with their sector to be important as they are more likely to be able to fit into one industry category.

He discovered that the most regular areas of concern for solution fundamentals are a modern architecture - which is open, scalable and extendable - and a healthy level of "out-of-the-box integration" with third-party industry specific products.

This is because soft configuration and complementary products can be used instead of hard-core development work to deal with inconsistencies, Mr Vile stated.

Recently, eresourceerp.com stated ERP systems can offer a number of benefits, including better customer satisfaction, more efficient waste reduction and increased competitiveness - all resulting in firms being able to meet their targets more effectively.
