SMEs ‘refreshing their IT infrastructure’ through virtualisation

14th September

An increasing number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are refreshing and upgrading their IT infrastructure by adopting virtual software, it has been claimed.

Writing for Computer Reseller News, Varun Aggarwal noted sectors such as health care and media are now starting to witness the benefits that can be brought through virtualisation.

The expert observed there is currently a growing maturity in IT-buying behaviour among SMEs that are now opting for more robust computing systems than before.

Raghuraman Pattabiraman, director of Transaction Business, said: "[SMEs] no longer want to invest time and money setting up huge servers that increase maintenance costs and do not integrate with their internal IT infrastructure."

He added SMEs are becoming more aware of the advantages of implementing improved computing environments.

Sam Dean, in a recent article for Ostatic.com, urged enterprises to join the virtualisation bandwagon if they want to improve and modernise their business operations.
