The UK's Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) is to achieve significant efficiency and cost-saving improvements after agreeing a new outsourced IT deal.
A £157 million ten-year contract has been agreed with a consortium of suppliers that will see the organisation rely on managed services to provide improved collaboration with its partners, better case management and enhanced use of intelligence.
It will allow SOCA to consolidate its data centres, networks and desktops to create a more efficient method of operation.
According to the organisation, this is in line with the government's current aim to utilise technology more effectively to help save money.
Trevor Pearce, director general of SOCA, said: "This contract secures an efficient and sustainable IT platform which will enable us to modernise and enhance our technological capabilities in fighting crime."
Last month, consultancy firm Accenture told the Financial Times that using outsourced IT is becoming a defining feature for many of the world's most efficiently-run and high-performing companies.
