Transition management ‘is vital for outsourced IT’

20th May

Companies considering using outsourced IT services need to manage their transition very well, it has been suggested.

David Ellis, partner at OMC Partners, said businesses have to "define the control points" they are most comfortable with when moving to managed services.

"Some organisations are relaxed about certain controls; other organisations want to be right on top of that until they are more comfortable," he explained.

Mr Ellis added that some companies may want to send a team manager out to the site where their desktop IT support is taking place in a bid to offer them some added comfort about the situation.

Carter Lusher, chief analyst for the Enterprise Applications Ecosystem at Ovum, recently told ComputerWeekly that suppliers which currently offer everything firms could possibly need in IT services, from outsourced IT to 1st line IT support, will change the way businesses buy technology in the future.
