European holiday company TUI Travel is to improve its cost-effectiveness and productivity after signing a new outsourced IT deal.
The firm has signed a six-year managed services contract with Dell that will allow it to standardise its tool set and embrace cloud-based asset management, as well as benefit from IT support services.
Thanks to this arrangement, which will also see TUI Travel upgrading its hardware, the company will be able to reduce the cost of technology ownership while also improving its corporate IT efficiency.
Jim Mann, chief information officer for TUI Travel, said the agreement will "provide significant value to our organisation and will also enable TUI Travel's team to focus on more customer-centric development".
Last month, Domino's Pizza UK revealed that it is planning to increase its investment in outsourced IT this year as it looks to capitalise on the growth of its online business.
It will therefore be seeking to outsource its website hosting and central IT infrastructure in order to improve the resilience of its computing systems.
