The role of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software has been highlighted by the results of a survey conducted recently.

Computing.co.uk has revealed that approximately two-thirds of businesses in the UK are now operating some type of ERP software to assist with their day-to-day operations.

Commenting on the release of ERP – Building on the Basics, the website noted that demand for the technology was greatly affected by the recession and financial crisis of 2008.

However, it described how the years since have witnessed a return to steady growth as firms increasingly adopt the system.

The online portal told how it had surveyed 150 decision makers at UK businesses and roughly two-in-three had confessed to running ERP software.

Among the benefits of using such equipment are its ability to add reliability and speed to tasks within the workplace.

Forrester recently made a number of predictions that were reported by Computer Weekly, which included ERP software becoming more aligned with the needs of businesses.
