IT support services will aid Swiss bank UBS in its bid to cut costs.

The financial institute hopes to streamline its IT department and will be turning to outsourced IT to reduce some of its expenses, reports ComputerWeekly.com.

A spokesperson for UBS told the news provider it hopes it will achieve "the aim of creating leaner structures, increasing efficiency and agility and cutting costs".

"Cost management and increased efficiency are top priorities for the entire UBS firm."

The bank regularly looks at its internal processes to optimise its costs, which is why it is looking to outsourced IT options, the spokesperson added.

A recent report by technology analyst firm Ovum revealed that the global IT services market will grow 4.4 per cent by 2015, with managed services and outsourced IT accounting expected to see healthy growth rates.

It also showed there will be a return to pre-recession rates of growth over the next two years.
