Businesses in the UK running cloud computing systems have been assured by Codestone that they face no threat from US lawmakers.
Concerns have been raised in recent times after authorities in the States made the decision to close New Zealand-based Megaupload and delete all of its users' data.
Sean Matthews, Codestone Cloud operations director, said the US government can carry out such acts as their data protection laws allow it. However, British and European legislation prevents such an intervention in the UK's cloud market.
"Our Codestone Cloud customers should be safe in the knowledge that all data is held within our UK data centres and are exempt from these US laws," he stated.
Mr Matthews noted that it is always worth checking exactly where data will be held when deploying a cloud computing system to ensure it is at no risk of deletion.
The advantages of using the cloud are numerous and varied, but were recently summed up by Bernard Golden, writing for IT World, who said it excels when it comes to increasing agility and reducing costs.
