Virtualisation ‘can half bandwidth and storage’

Companies that purchase virtualisation software can gain a competitive advantage through a number of benefits, one expert has suggested.

Martin Atherton, writing for the Register, noted firms that install these kinds of platforms often find themselves cutting their bandwidth and storage space in half.

Commenting on the typical deployment, he added that many businesses will reach the "dynamic" stage after things have settled down from the original implementation.

He remarked: "Dynamic. You’re in the hallowed place: automated provisioning, failover, backup, recovery and storage. It’s a fluid, optimised environment and you can add and remove capacity at will."

According to Mr Atherton, organisations that reach this phase of integration will often look to virtualise other operations within the business to increase efficiency there as well.

Dale Vile stated in an article for Mainstreammatters that virtualisation is popular with enterprises because it offers an excellent return on investment, particularly in storage hardware.
