VMware has pledged to continue rolling out new and pioneering products across the world.

Steve Herrod, chief technology officer at the company, described innovation as the "lifeblood of progress".

As a result, it is keen to keep serving its highly "demanding" consumer base with the "breakthrough technology" it expects.

Mr Herrod stressed that VMware's strong focus on the needs of people and organisations is one of the reasons it has emerged as a market leader in the cloud computing sector.

Indeed, he said this approach has helped to drive its ability to "lead the industry and grow the market".

Mr Herrod added that VMware products are used by a wide variety of organisations, including small to medium-sized businesses, multinational corporations and government agencies.

He was speaking shortly after the company confirmed that strong demand for its virtualisation software helped it perform above expectations between April and June this year, as its profits almost tripled during this period.
