Server virtualisation specialist VMware is attempting to make it as easy as possible for companies to adopt the technology and benefit from it.
At its VMworld conference, it was announced that new tools designed for small and medium-sized businesses have been added to its portfolio, reported V3.
The company used the Copenhagen meeting to confirm several new applications and products.
A special IT Advisor is also to be made available, with the feature said to scan a firm's existing infrastructure and identify parts that can be virtualised.
VMware technical marketing engineer Bruce Ward added that another tool – VMware Go Pro – also works by analysing the network and deploying the manufacturer's hypervisor if necessary.
"It reaches out to the machine, asks for the password and in a short while you have ESX where once was Windows Server," stated Mr Ward.
VMware this week announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2011, which it described as "solid".
