Businessmen could be set to take advantage of a new virtualisation software being developed by VMware, it has been suggested.

Writing for BGR, Kelly Hodgkins noted that the platform would allow two operating systems (OSs) to run on a single mobile phone at the same time.

She stated that VMware is looking at "optimising the virtualisation technology so the incoming/outgoing data from each OS is managed efficiently and securely and that the switch from one OS to another is seamless and intuitive".

According to Ms Hodgkins, the device is being targeted at professionals who would like to carry a single mobile to use for both business and pleasure.

VMware is looking to test these phones in a company environment at some point in 2011, she added, with plans to mass produce them in 2012.

Last month, VMware president and chief executive officer Paul Mauritz stated that he and his company were very proud of the work it has done in revolutionising virtualisation platforms.
