Businesses have expressed their preference for virtualisation products sold by VMware in a recent survey.
Daniel Kusnetzky, a member of research organisation The 451 Group, writes in an article for ZDNet that the firm did even more favourably than had been expected.
He remarked: "Survey results show that VMware is the most trusted virtualisation vendor and that cost, to this point, is not the most important selection criteria."
According to Mr Kusnetzky, server virtualisation in general has been widely popular because of its ability to provide a quick return on investment.
This kind of technology remained one of the few "hyper-growth" areas in the software industry, he added.
The expert explained that VMware is enjoying a large market at the moment because of its cost-effective pricing regime.
Earlier this month, VMware was named alongside Citrix as two companies that had "made things extremely interesting" in the virtualisation industry by InfoWorld writer David Marshall.
