Virtualisation specialist VMware has received special recognition for its achievements in the field.
The company has been positioned by Gartner in the Leaders Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for x86 Server Virtualisation Infrastructure.
VMware chief marketing officer Rick Jackson said the firm has helped thousands of customers reduce IT complexity and achieve new levels of service, value and efficiency through its virtual software.
"We believe our position as a leader reflects this success [and] reinforces our belief that virtualisation is central to next-generation IT strategy," he added.
The study noted virtualisation is presenting a fundamental change in how computing is managed, deployed and delivered.
It stated the option is now considered a mainstream trend and has acted as a foundation for infrastructure modernisation.
Another company to be placed in the list was Citrix, whose XenServer product has proven popular with customers across the globe and has gained added momentum over the last 12 months.
