The future of VMware's server virtualisation technology is looking bright, after the firm announced it has embraced the cloud.
Such comments were made by the company's chief executive officer Paul Maritz, who is quoted by ComputerWeekly.com as suggesting cloud-based solutions have advanced the sector further than ever before.
Indeed, these can provide applications that are simply not possible on more standard platforms.
He went on to suggest that the new types of products are very much the future and cloud as a "computing fabric".
Mr Maritz was speaking at the VMworld event in Copenhagen and stated: "One of the ways to categorise computing is the type of application. We are seeing the emergence of a new type of applications, which cannot be done on a traditional relational database management system."
At the conference, VMware also announced it will make it easy for firms to enjoy virtualisation by releasing several new tools.
