Firms making use of VMware tools could find a number of new products put more emphasis on security in virtualised environments, following comments from the company's chief technical officer.
According to reports from V3.co.uk, the company has announced VMware vShield Edge, vShield Endpoint vShield App, which will cover load balancing, firewall security and antivirus for cloud systems.
The news source stated the tools are aimed at achieving a defence-in-depth approach to virtual security architecture.
Steve Herrod told the publication it is now important security is moved from a physical perimeter device to a virtual environment, so that each system could can update itself automatically when necessary.
He added: "We need to pull all security mechanisms so they are working together. Security has to follow the virtual machine in there - we have to visualise security."
This follows news VMware has stated its intention to acquire IT analytics firm Itegrien and online access management and security company TriCipher.
