VMware could be the virtualisation technology of choice for many companies because of its drive for innovation and quality, it has been suggested.

Contributing for Network World, Bogomil Balkansky - vice-president of product marketing, virtualisation and cloud platform at VMware - claimed his firm represents the architecture and expertise to drive virtualisation forward.

The industry figure noted VMware's constant search for innovation has increased the role virtual software plays in delivering value for enterprises.

VMware capabilities "have expanded to optimise not only servers, but storage and network, improving quality of service, increasing IT agility and recasting the economic model of computing", he explained.

Mr Balkansky added the product can satisfy the desire of customers to have a platform that can meet the needs of today and provide a path to the future.

Harshal Kallyanpur, writing recently for Information Week, claimed customers purchasing VMware can see many upfront benefits, including improved compute utilisation and application availability.
