VMware is to continue to promote innovation in virtualisation, it has been claimed.

Jeff Casale made the comments after it was announced he has been appointed the virtual software provider’s new senior vice-president and general manager of business operations for the Americas region.

The 45-year-old said the firm had successfully established virtualisation and stated: "I’m thrilled to join an industry leader that has helped cultivate this shift in how organisations think about IT."

Mr Casale, who will lead strategic planning, go-to-market and key functions management in the region, added he is looking forward to helping VMware continue its success in driving innovation in virtual application deployment.

Carl Eschenbach, executive vice-president of worldwide field operations at the enterprise, said he was delighted with the appointment.

Managing director of VMware India T Srinivasan recently claimed the business is the clear industry leader in the virtualisation field as it has a sound understanding of the needs of the current market.
