Server virtualisation solutions provider VMware has outlined plans to continue using the cloud in order to run its programs for the foreseeable future.

At the company's VMworld conference in Copenhagen recently, the major theme was the reliance on the cloud that the firm has built up, reported V3.

It said that both private internal clouds and public alternatives will be popular when it comes to forming IT infrastructure within businesses.

Indeed, even a combination of the two could be popular in some instances.

Rob Smeet, director of product marketing at VMware, said: "We recognise this, so what we want to do is provide a management portfolio that is designed for this new cloud model, which is fundamentally different."

Businesses that run solutions in the cloud are also said to benefit from increased interoperability.

Chief executive officer Paul Maritz, quoted by ComputerWeekly.com, recently explained that VMware's virtualisation products have moved forward as a result of embracing the cloud.
