Work Wise week ‘aims to promote benefits of home working’

17th May

Category: Workforce Mobility

The 6th annual Work Wise week will be aiming to highlight the benefits home working provides to businesses.

Yesterday (May 16th) saw the beginning of the week-long promotion, which promotes the 'smart working' initiatives which benefit individuals, businesses and the wider environment.

The Telework Association is supporting the week, which will demonstrate the benefits of home working, which could include the use of remote access software.

Research director for the association Peter Thomson said some employers are "reluctant to allow some people flexibility in where they work", even though there is strong evidence to support the benefits it offers.

"In a truly flexible working environment many jobs can be done at home on any day of the week, at a time to suit the individual worker," he added.

Matt Duffy, partnerships manager at consultants Lorica, recently said employers are focusing a lot more now on the benefits of home working and are increasingly beginning to offer it as an option to more of their workers.
