The potential benefits of remote access software have been highlighted by workers in the US.

According to the Arizona Republic, Microsoft has conducted a survey of employees in the Phoenix area.

And those who have been able to take advantage of home working opportunities said it gave them the chance to achieve a better balance between family life and their career.

Furthermore, they reported being less stressed and noted that money had been saved on fuel.

More than two-thirds of respondents said they would be able to work from home, although less than half stated that employers allow remote access.

It comes after John Wright, national chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses, praised companies in the UK for showing their resiliency.

By putting plans in place for remote access and flexible working, he explained, they were able to withstand disruption caused by severe weather conditions early in the year.
