Workforce mobility ‘can reduce costs’

Workforce mobility software - such as Citrix XenApp - can reduce costs for both employers and employees alike, it has been claimed.

Travel payments for those heading to and from their office, plus rental figures can be driven down through flexible working - according to Adi Gaskell - who has written a blog on the Chartered Management Institute’s website.

Virgin Media Business recently announced that higher petrol prices are making working-from-home a more financially viable option for individuals, as a person who takes an average daily commute of 19 miles could save £3,800 a year by staying put.

A report from BT Workstyle revealed the benefits for companies who adopt remote access employment.

It showed that total rent costs are reduced by around £550 million a year and staff productivity is boosted by 20 per cent when people work from within their own house.

The Confederation of British Industry recently suggested more businesses should strive to provide workforce mobility, as fewer commuters would serve to alleviate future congestion on Britain’s roads.
