Workforce mobility ‘will have impact on productivity’

Companies believe that creating a more mobile workforce, perhaps with workers using remote access software, will boost productivity.

Some 66 per cent of the firms polled for a recent survey by SAP said that introducing home working and more mobility will make their employees work harder.

Almost two-thirds (65 per cent) of the companies involved in the survey said they felt their mobile workforce is already better able to get on with their role, with 63 per cent saying they believe their staff have more job satisfaction.

Tim Noble, managing director at SAP UK and Ireland, said software which allows workers to access information and data wherever they are is vital for a mobile workforce.

"At SAP we are investing heavily to ensure we provide our customers with deployment choice and flexibility," he added.

Recently, the sixth annual Work Wise Week took place in the UK, which had the aim of extolling the benefits of home working.
