Microsoft's SQL Server is the database technology of choice as it offers a robust, scalable, high-performance platform in which an organisation's database infrastructure can evolve. MSDE or the Microsoft Data Engine, which is based on Microsoft SQL Server technology, is available free of charge for up to 5 users for smaller applications.
