Is remote working set to increase after the Covid-19 crisis?

During the Covid-19 emergency, businesses have reacted quickly to support employees working remotely, investing in IT tools to ensure working from home is as productive as possible. With all these remote workers now set up at home, what will happen when the lockdown is lifted, and will office life go back to normal?

Remote Working

A Gartner survey recently published asked 317 CFOs what their views were on post-Covid-19. They responded, highlighting that for a number of their employees, working from home could become a permanent arrangement. In fact, 74% of CFOs would move at least 5% of previously on-site employees to work remotely full-time and around a quarter of CFOs could potentially move as many has 20% of their employees off-site permanently. This is because CFOs can now see that with these technology advancements, it has allowed a broad spectrum of roles within their organisations to be effectively carried out off-site. In addition, permanent remote working helps with cost cutting measures including the reduction of on-premise technology and lower commercial real estate costs.
